FreeCell is a solitaire played with four open "free cells" for staging cards. Nearly every deal is winnable with perfect play.
Deal all 52 cards face-up into eight tableau columns. Four free cells and four foundations start empty.
Build tableau columns down by rank, alternating color. Use the four free cells to temporarily hold cards. Move single cards, or whole sequences if you have enough empty free cells and columns.
Move all cards to the four foundations, ace to king by suit.
Keep free cells open whenever possible — empty cells are your most valuable resource for moving sequences.
Almost — all but one of the original 32,000 Microsoft deals are solvable, and modern solvers confirm nearly all are winnable.
FreeCell deals everything face-up and adds four free cells, making it far more skill-based than Klondike.
