Euchre is a quick partnership trick game played with a 24-card deck. Its famous twist is the bowers — the two jacks that outrank everything.
Use only the 9, 10, J, Q, K, and A of each suit (24 cards). Deal 5 cards each to four players; one card is turned up to offer trump.
The jack of trump is the "right bower" (highest card), and the other jack of the same color is the "left bower" (second highest). Then A, K, Q, 10, 9.
The team that names trump must take at least 3 of the 5 tricks. Follow suit if able; trump beats everything except a higher trump.
Making 3–4 tricks scores 1 point; all 5 tricks is a "march" for 2 points; failing is "euchred" and the opponents score 2. First to 10 wins. Going alone and winning all 5 scores 4.
The jack of the trump suit — the single highest card in the game.
The other jack of the same color as trump, which counts as trump for that hand and is the second-highest card.
24 — the 9 through Ace of each suit.
