Euchre Rules

Euchre is a quick partnership trick game played with a 24-card deck. Its famous twist is the bowers — the two jacks that outrank everything.

👥 4 players ⏱ 30–60 min 🎯 Difficulty ●●●○○ 🃏 Trick-Taking

Setup

Use only the 9, 10, J, Q, K, and A of each suit (24 cards). Deal 5 cards each to four players; one card is turned up to offer trump.

Trump and Bowers

The jack of trump is the "right bower" (highest card), and the other jack of the same color is the "left bower" (second highest). Then A, K, Q, 10, 9.

How to Play

The team that names trump must take at least 3 of the 5 tricks. Follow suit if able; trump beats everything except a higher trump.

Scoring

Making 3–4 tricks scores 1 point; all 5 tricks is a "march" for 2 points; failing is "euchred" and the opponents score 2. First to 10 wins. Going alone and winning all 5 scores 4.
